Pottermore & Hogwarts – An Introduction

Hello and welcome to the wondrous world of Pottermore.  If you’re reading this then you’ve probably already received your acceptance letter.  If not then don’t worry, someone will be along shortly to explain things and modify your memory.  Now first things first, we’ve got to get you looking like a real witch or wizard.

So head on over to Diagon Alley

or Twilfit and Tattings

if you desire a more individualized look.  If you’re a snazzy dresser like me then this is the place to go.

Now then, no wizard is complete without a magical owl or toad.  So step into The Magical Menagerie to peruse the wide selection of companions for sale.

Since you’re train doesn’t leave to Hogwarts for a few hours.  Why not take a load off and look for chocolate frog cards.  If you have too many of one kind you can always trade them to your friends or fellow magical folks.

Or play a game of book herding if you feel up to the task.

But, remember to stay out of Knockturn Alley!!!

Well, it looks like the train is about ready to leave.  Make sure you have everything, can’t have you forgetting any important books or leaving your pets behind.  It will be a long journey to Hogwarts, but don’t worry as there’s plenty to do while you wait.  You can brush up on your knowledge with a head-to-head quiz.

Or put it to the test in a friendly wizard’s duel.

Don’t worry, you won’t be able to do much damage since neither of you will know how to do much more than toss a few spells around.

Ah, at last we’ve arrived.  All right, first years follow me to the Great Hall.

Here you will be sorted into your houses.
Gryffindor, Ravenclaw,

Hufflepuff and Slytherin.

Don’t worry about your luggage, it will be taken to your respective houses while you eat.

After dinner you can unpack or relax in the common room and chat with friends.

Remember, the dungeons are strictly off-limits to first years.

And be sure to get lots of sleep because tomorrow you will be starting your first charms lesson.

If you do well you will be rewarded with chocolate frog  cards.  If you do extremely well your name will be put on the honor roll.

And for those of you who are of age or have a parent’s permission slip, we do have houses available in Hogsmeade for lease or sale.

We hope you have a wonderful time.  We look forward to filling your heads with everything you need to know about being a wizard.  I’ll leave you with the words of the late great headmaster Albus Dumbledore, “Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! and Tweak!”
